Deborah Akers

RADIO POEM

the past is not a web
of lost threads
more like frequencies

entire lives       ongoing
passed over      neglected
on the dial

emerging in moments
when margins
erode

murmured narratives
bearing comfort
shock    pain
in equal shares

our truest companions

through the static
of time    its hollow
white hiss
