check out the view from this hotel window / painted with an impressionist’s carelessness / sidewalks pinching distant traffic / they killed a man for saying the earth was round / he was simply saying, check out the view from here / the earth is balled up by gravity / streets crisscross like singles on dating apps / they’re held together by something other than gravity / the city burns like a firework / consuming itself / all the stars in the sky are consuming themselves / the lights are doubled in the thick glass / glass that won’t even open / the city is already a ghost
