R L Powell

Exhibition without the Museum

iii. without warning, a pitch of desire

I wanted nothing

more
than

to repeople the world
with ourselves—

sober, on the street—

to endure, tall
as princes—to the quick

cracked
even statues; left

as fragments; household salvage
without a detailed room

to return—
blaze,
without applause—

if only
he would let me
bless him, openly

in the day
