Live in It

You left the poem unfinished,
your sister uncalled,
the night unplanned,
and yet the sun still sets.

The pink and yellow splotches
of cirrus clouds you can’t
unremember are a sign
of the earth dying, of the tree
that was once your mother.

Look anyway.

Raised outside of Orlando, Florida, Kerrigan Azme is a poet and recent graduate from the University of Central Florida where she earned her BA in Creative Writing. Her work has previously appeared in The Orchards Poetry Journal.
