Natalie A. Walker
Reborn
Willow branches survey the unexpected visitor, sway
with bellowing desire.
I arrived
in winter’s creeping. Dull. Frosted,
adorned. In tethered flannel,
stitches without ends.
The willow offers itself as coffin,
submerges me in burnished brown.
In sleep; bonded. Willow awakens
groggy from gentle alarms of spring.
Torso bends to roots, greets
me as wooden newborn.
